SI-9915 EQUIPMENT FRAME
The SI-9915 Equipment Frame is a compact, lightweight unit designed to provide a mechanical and electrical platform for up to four single-slot 6U VME devices, such as DRS Signal Solutions, Inc. SI-8616-X VHF/UHF Digital Receivers and the SI-8622 VHF/UHF Wideband Digital receiver. The frame is an open architecture chassis using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment to support and interface with several DRS Technologies VME devices. It is particularly well suited for dense racking arrangements allowing four independent receivers to be mounted in 2U of vertical rack space. The SI-9915 frame is designed for mounting in a standard EIA 19-inch equipment rack. Independent control of each receiver is by means of the receiver front panel controller or an Ethernet interface.
The front panel contains a power switch, USB port, headset jack, memory purge switch, TFT-LCD display panel, keypad, tuning knob and two volume knobs. The frame includes a universal input ac power supply that provides power to the receivers, front panel and internal components. The frame includes cooling fans to allow operation in dense rack configurations. The frame is designed so that the VME receivers are easily plugged in from the rear. This allows easy user access to the receiver I/O connectors from the rear of the frame.
The SI-9915 uses a single-board computer running in an embedded Windows® XP environment for unit control. File storage is provided using a compact flash module. A dedicated RS-232 COM four-port module is used for computer-to-receiver communication. The unit’s internal power supply accepts 90 to 264 Vac, 47 to 63 Hz line power as its power source. The main chassis’ total power consumption is less than 55 watts empty and less than 142 watts with four SI-8616-X receivers installed and less than 164 watts with four SI-8622 receivers installed.
SI-9915 Highlights
- Standard 2U equipment frame 19W x 3.5H x 21.0L inches
- Four VME slots available
- Accepts up to four DRS SI-8616-X VME VHF/UHF digital receivers
- Easy receiver replacement
- Front panel receiver controller
- 10/100 Base-T Ethernet control of receivers
- 640 x 480 color TFT-LCD display
- VGA display output
- RF and IF pan displays
- Random access memory (RAM) battery backup

SI-9916 2U VME EQUIPMENT FRAME
The SI-9916 is a 2U VME equipment frame that may be mounted in a standard EIA 19-inch equipment rack. The SI-9916 is specifically designed to hold up to four single - slot DRS 6U VME products.
Product options include:
SI-8622 Wideband VHF/UHF Receiver
SI-8616 (-X) VHF/UHF Receivers
SI-9136B VHF/UHF Tuner (with/without Digitizer)
SI-7002B VHF/UHF Upconverter
The open back of the SI-9916 provides access to the 6U devices for easy replacement. The 6U devices are powered through the VME backplane leaving all front panel connectors accessible to the user. The input and output connectors of each 6U device installed in the equipment frame are readily accessible at the rear of the unit. The 6U-device front panels effectively become the rear panel of the SI-9916. All the 6U devices are controlled using their remote interface RS-232 ports. The SI-8622 also includes Ethernet and USB control interfaces. All receiver control interfaces allow retrieval of IF spectral snapshot data blocks.
The SI-9916 front panel contains a power switch and power ON indicator. Integral fans provide sufficient airflow to ensure cooling in dense rack configurations. The ac power supply (90-130Vac, 50/60/400 Hz or 90-260 Vac,
50/60 Hz) provides power to all installed devices and other modules within the frame. If installed, an optional RAM battery backup feature allows compatible receivers to retain their current parameters and stored memory when powered down. The SI-8616-1, SI -8616-2, SI-8616-3 and SI-8622 all have compatible memory-retention circuitry.
SI--9916 Highlights
- 2U receiver equipment frame 19 W x 3.5 H x 20 L inches
- Four VME slots accept up to four DRS 6U VME products
- Easy device access and replacement
